Locale

Locale was serving a marketplace with two different languages at once: the product language of search, filters, and transactions, and the market language customers used to understand places, categories, and local relevance.

The task was to make discovery feel like one conversation. Product structure needed to remain efficient while messaging, taxonomy, and market context helped users understand why a result mattered, not just how to reach it.

Marketplace terminology varied between product UI, marketing, and sales conversations

Navigation and filtering reflected system categories more clearly than customer intent

Local context and product functionality competed rather than reinforcing one another

We aligned taxonomy, interface language, navigation, and go-to-market messaging around the same customer mental model.

Bringing the strategy into the experience

We aligned taxonomy, interface language, navigation, and go-to-market messaging around the same customer mental model. Product patterns were simplified where terminology had become overly internal, while market-facing language was brought closer to the actual actions and value users encountered inside the experience.

From fragmented language to one clearer marketplace story

The work made the product easier to explain and easier to use because the same concepts now carried through discovery, sales, and the interface. That consistency reduced translation between teams and touchpoints, supporting a clearer buying story and the stronger close-rate performance reported for the case.

More Than a Clearer Product Story

The work made the product easier to explain and easier to use because the same concepts now carried through discovery, sales, and the interface. That consistency reduced translation between teams and touchpoints, supporting a clearer buying story and the stronger close-rate performance reported for the case.

The product and the pitch finally sound like the same company. Sales is not translating one story while customers discover another inside the platform, and that consistency has made every conversation much easier.
